I never really understood what it meant to sacrifice for someone else until i started to volunteer. The look on a kid's face when you give them your full attention and show them you care just a little bit about them will change your life and their lives. We are here to live in community with others and to sacrifice ourselves for others. I believe people are to worried about themselves and their salvation and they forget about the salvation of the church as a whole.(Thanks JB for this knowledge) As an older person in the church we are entrusted to teach the younger generations of the church because they are next in the church. They are the people that will be running it all when we are gone. If they are not taken care of now and given the attention they deserve the church can not grow.

Opportunities Missed....
Today i was texted to help out with Kid's Street. I have no problem helping out with Kid's Street, but i feel I most people that help with Kid's Street are taken for granted, but not by the leadership. I feel they are taken for granted by a majority of the people that use Kid's Street on a weekly basis. The church that I attend is growing and therefore Kid's Street is growing immensely, yet no one will step and volunteer to help out. I do not understand why.......doing Kid's Street is one of my favorite parts of the week. Yes, there is preparation involved and you have to do work with children. I can not understand why parents who i have been heard complain that they never spend enough time with their children do not help out. Kid's Street has been one of the best opportunities to connect with my own parents and I'm 24 ears old! Kid's Street has brought our family closer than it has ever been before. Kid's Street is a place where a parent can connect with their own child and never have to spend a penny. Free connection with your kids crazy idea. The environment is fun and trust me even if your kids act like they don't like you being around they will appreciate it. I hear a lot of people say that they don't know anyone at their church. I have made some of my best friends and some of the best relationships have sparked because of Kid's Street. Volunteering has connected me so much at church i can not even make it back to the children's area without someone stopping me and wanting to chat. There is a whole family that leads the entire small groups of all the kids during third service. I'm not trying to rant here i just want people to realize what Kid's Street can offer.

People are becoming "fat" Christians. They listen to every sermon, attend every bible study to grow in their knowledge and walk away with a good feeling. They don't understand that Christians are called to do good works (it's part of our sanctification). The problem isn't just with Crossroads, I think it is apparent in most larger evangelical churches. Modern American Christianity has a tendency to focus on what we can get from God, not what we can give to Him. People no longer have to count the cost of giving their lives to Christ, they are only told it will make their life better and give them purpose.
But back to Kidstreet...We are strapped for volunteers at Northpoint too. I have to miss church twice a month and we only have one service. But no one wants to help...
