Mad Men

So i know a couple posts ago I put a video from the television show community where a character Abed plays Don Draper from Mad Men. So after seeing that scene a million times i decided to do little research on the show Mad Men to see if I would enjoy. I watched the first episode and i was hooked. Yes it is not a good show for children, but from what i've heard from people that worked in this era of American History it is pretty accurate to how things were in the work place. So i found this video on youtube that introduces the main Character Don Draper.

The best parts of my favorite episode of Community!!

Classic Troy and Abed from Community

Scorn Businessman!

Letter from Cavs owner Dan Gilbert

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert

Majority Owner

Cleveland Cavaliers

Please comment on this!! I think this letter is completely and utterly ridiculous. Lebron is allowed to go play basketball anywhere he wants. When he came into the league didn't chose to go to Cleveland. They drafted him, why does someone have to be loyal to their hometown? Yes , its is admirable and a bit fairy tale like. The hard truth in this world and culture we live in is the thing that makes the world go round is no longer loyalty and friendship. Its Money and Greed. I'm not saying that i don't struggle with those things, but sadly it is what the business world has come to and lets not get this mixed up NBA basketball is not a sport it's a business. The person that should understand that statement the best is the majority owner of a basketball team. If he was really committed to getting Cleveland a championship he should have put better role players around Lebron over the last 6 years. Putting Antwain Jamison on the team halfway through a season is not dedication to a championship for Cleveland. Mo Williams and Delonte West aren't even B class guards, Shaq at 37 is completely past the prime of his career and the rest of the role players aren't good enough to really effect the outcome of a game. All i am saying is i knew he was going to leave but the question was what team was going to get him. I say go Lebron and good luck to you!

Opportunities Missed....

Today i was texted to help out with Kid's Street. I have no problem helping out with Kid's Street, but i feel I most people that help with Kid's Street are taken for granted, but not by the leadership. I feel they are taken for granted by a majority of the people that use Kid's Street on a weekly basis. The church that I attend is growing and therefore Kid's Street is growing immensely, yet no one will step and volunteer to help out. I do not understand why.......doing Kid's Street is one of my favorite parts of the week. Yes, there is preparation involved and you have to do work with children. I can not understand why parents who i have been heard complain that they never spend enough time with their children do not help out. Kid's Street has been one of the best opportunities to connect with my own parents and I'm 24 ears old! Kid's Street has brought our family closer than it has ever been before. Kid's Street is a place where a parent can connect with their own child and never have to spend a penny. Free connection with your kids crazy idea. The environment is fun and trust me even if your kids act like they don't like you being around they will appreciate it. I hear a lot of people say that they don't know anyone at their church. I have made some of my best friends and some of the best relationships have sparked because of Kid's Street. Volunteering has connected me so much at church i can not even make it back to the children's area without someone stopping me and wanting to chat. There is a whole family that leads the entire small groups of all the kids during third service. I'm not trying to rant here i just want people to realize what Kid's Street can offer.
I never really understood what it meant to sacrifice for someone else until i started to volunteer. The look on a kid's face when you give them your full attention and show them you care just a little bit about them will change your life and their lives. We are here to live in community with others and to sacrifice ourselves for others. I believe people are to worried about themselves and their salvation and they forget about the salvation of the church as a whole.(Thanks JB for this knowledge) As an older person in the church we are entrusted to teach the younger generations of the church because they are next in the church. They are the people that will be running it all when we are gone. If they are not taken care of now and given the attention they deserve the church can not grow.
